Playón de Bayas is the longest sandy beach in the Principality, connected to Los Quebrantos, forming an extensive sandy area with a length of 2,800 meters of dark golden sand. It is divided into two zones: on its eastern end is Playa de los Requexinos (nudist), and at the other end is Sablón, where the Ranón River is located, delimiting the municipality of Castrillón from that of Soto del Barco. It is one of the beaches in the municipality that allows pets throughout the year in the designated area and has lifeguard services, parking, and showers.

It features a dune system of great ecological value, located at the eastern end, home to threatened flora species found in very few locations in Asturias, some of which include lechetrezna, espigadilla de mar, mielga marina, and nardo marino.

This beach is very exposed, with strong waves and large currents, making it one of the most suitable beaches for experienced surfing. The wind comes from the northeast, with multiple varied peaks along its entire length and strong northwest swell. The best time to surf in Bayas is during the fall and winter months, although it receives waves almost all year round.
