Located in the residential area of the Las Arenas (Areeta) neighborhood and exceptionally well connected, this beach is one of Getxo’s most popular. It sits 13 kilometers from Bilbao beside the Churruca Pier and offers kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing, among other water sports. Like all of Getxo’s beaches, it’s accessible by public transport—you can easily reach it by metro, bus, or even ferry, since the Bizkaia Bridge links Getxo with the neighboring town of Portugalete—and it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

One of the most urban beaches in Getxo, it’s surrounded by promenades, shops, and eateries peppered with century-old English-style residences. Fully accessible, it provides every service and facility: showers, restrooms, beach wardens, lifeguards, fitness and sports areas, children’s playgrounds, waste bins, a public-address system, and drinking fountains—making it ideal for families and people with reduced mobility. Fishing is permitted during specified hours. This is an open, urban, tranquil beach with fine sand and gentle waves—well sheltered and safe. A stroll along the spectacular seaside promenade also leads to the marina and Getxo’s main beach, Ereaga, which is perfect for surfing and other watersports.
